Nine Student-Athletes Receives the NSCA 2020 All-American Athlete Award


Colorado Springs, CO - The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to announce nine Fitchburg State University student-athletes have been selected as 2020 All-American Athlete Award recipients. This award recognizes their athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning.

The following student-athletes were recognized: Men’s soccer - junior Branton Abbett (Jasper, Ind), football -  senior Richard Austin (Wareham, Mass.), softball - senior McKenzie Lambert (Wilbraham, Mass.), women’s cross country - junior Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH), men’s cross country - junior Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield, RI), ice hockey – sophomore Patrick Sullivan (Yorktown, NY), men’s track and field – sophomore Cody Soderlund (Middleborough, Mass.) and baseball – seniors Matthew Pingitore (Rutland, Mass.) and Brandon Lefebvre (Leominster, Mass.). 

Nominated by Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Jim McGuire. “On behalf of the Strength and Conditioning Staff, I would like to congratulate all of our recipients of this year's Strength and Conditioning All American Athletes of the Year through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. These awards recognize student- athletes whose contributions go beyond exceptional performance in the weight room and in their sport. 

“An NSCA All American is someone who embodies everything the Strength and Conditioning program at Fitchburg State is about - giving consistent effort, having a great attitude, and being an elite teammate. This year's recipients led through their actions and helped to bolster cultures of hard work and dedication within their teams. Congratulations again to all of our recipients! #BURGSTRONG!” said McGuire. 

“We are proud to have Coach McGuire join the NSCA in its mission to safely improve athletic performance,” says Eric McMahon, NSCA’s Coaching Program Manager, “Supporting our student-athletes at Fitchburg State University guarantees a stronger future for the NSCA.
