24 Student-Athletes Inducted

24 Student-Athletes honored at eighth annual induction

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State University would like to recognize 24 student-athletes for their academic achievements and induction into the National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (NCAHS).

The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. on May 17, 1996, as a student-athlete honor society for the recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter-winners at the collegiate level.

There are 269 chapters of the NCAHS, Chi Alpha Sigma across the country with Fitchburg State University designated as the Sigma Chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma.

This year's Fitchburg State inductees:  Johan Asencio (baseball), David Bedard (men's soccer), Louis Brigham (men's soccer), Cameron Davis (cross country/track & field), Trevor Fields (cross country/track & field), Jordin Holmes (ice hockey), Audrey Johnson (softball), Perry Joubert (volleyball), Jillian Laabs (volleyball), Sophia Laperle (field hockey), Jeremiah Maki (men's soccer), Anthony Marcella (men's soccer). Julia Miele (women's lacrosse), Mikaela Mitchell (women's soccer), Haley O'Brien (softball), Kevin Ritz (football), Jamie Ruiz (football), Nicholas Sachetta (cross country/track & field), Leah Sheehan (volleyball), Timothy Sheehy (cross country/ track & field), Cody Soderlund (cross country/track & field), Patrick Sullivan (ice hockey), Aiden Ward (baseball), and Jillian Whalen (women's lacrosse).

Fitchburg State members of the National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society will be wearing unique cords during the undergraduate graduation ceremony in recognition of their recent induction into the NCAHS.
