MASCAC Spring Sportsmanship Team Announced

39 MASCAC student-athletes honored

FITCHBURG, Mass. –The 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Spring Sportsmanship Teams were recently announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon as 39 MASCAC student-athletes were recognized.

Among the student-athletes honored for their outstanding sportsmanship were five Fitchburg State student-athletes: senior Johan Asencio (Clinton, Mass.) (baseball), junior Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) (women's lacrosse), freshman Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) (men's outdoor track), junior Selina Gibbons (Littleton, Mass.) (women's outdoor track) and sophomore Molly Grass (Rockland, Mass.) (softball).

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the values of the MASCAC and its Sportsmanship Statement, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season. A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the Sportsmanship Team of the sport in which they compete.
