Amenemhet Ashenafi (D'Andra Freeman)

2012 Inductee - 2002 Graduate 

Amenemhet Ashenafi is among the most prolific football players in Fitchburg State University history. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Ashenafi held nearly all of Fitchburg State's rushing records in addition to some league records.

Many of Amenemhet's athletic achievements have stood the test of time. Amenemhet holds the Fitchburg State records in career rushing yards (3,957), career rushing attempts (789), career rushing touchdowns (32), single season rushing yards (1,871) and single season attempts (365) and is second in single season rushing touchdowns (14). His record breaking 1999 season earned Amenemhet not only the Fitchburg State Male Athlete of teh Year Award but also a selection to play in the national all-star bowl game in Minneapolis. From 1997-1999, Amenemhet was named three times to the All-New England Collegiate Conference Team. Amenemhet's prowess transcended the gridiron, in 1998 he was the 100 meter men's outdoor track MASCAC Champion.

After graduating with a degree in sociology, Amenemhet began his career working for the Florida Department of Education. Through his work eith the disabled, he helped obtain gainful employment. In 2013 Amenemhet moved to Maryland to work for the Washington D.C. Public School System and currently works in a K-8 school. Amenemhet returns home each day to his two sons, Nassor, 6 and Khafre, 4. Continuing his passion and love of football, Amenemhet coaches his sons' youth football team, passing on the knowledge he obtained throughout his playing career at Fitchburg State University.
