Emile Johnson, Sr. - 1997 Inductee

One of the college's all-time greats, Mr. Johnson started and starred in four sports for four years. He joins his son Emile, JR as the first father-son combination in the Hall Fame.

As a basketball player, Mr. Johnson led his team to two NETCC Championships and an undefeated season in 1935. That year they defeated Holy Cross in a post-season game.

In baseball he served two years as student-coach and over his senior year he batted an amazing .570. The school paper described him as a ?superman? on the field.

Mr. Johnson was also the leading scorer for FTC?s highly successful soccer team, and ran the 100, 220 and the relay for the track team.

Following his college days, Mr. Johnson taught in the Leominster School system for 39 years. He served as President of the Teacher?s Assocation, President of the Rotary Club and was a member of the School Building Committee. He was also a longtime youth baseball coach, leading the 1952 Babe Ruth team to the State Championship.
