Jeremiah Millane - 1994 Inductee

Millane was the finest basketball player of his time and one of the college's all-time greats. He was a superb catcher for the Fitchburg Teacher's College baseball squad for three years. On the hardwood for three seasons, Millane was a prolific scorer. As a freshman, his 19.2 points per game in league games led all NETCC scorers. Overall he poured in 16.5 points per contest. The following year his 15.7 points per game again led the team. Over those two seasons Fitchburg Teacher's College posted a combined 26-13 team record. His junior season Millane served as captain of the basketball team.

Millane regards having the opportunity to play for outstanding coaches such as Bob Elliot and Bill Provenzani as the highlight of his playing days.

Following his collegiate career, Millane went on to devote his professional career to education. For 35 years he taught and coached at Holyoke High School. He was the Industrial Arts Department Head at Holyoke from 1965 to 1986, the year he retired. Millane remains a great supporter of Fitchburg State athletics. The Holyoke native and resident annually joins the "Friends of the Falcons" booster club and has donated to the Falcon basketball program as well. He is also active in the Veterans Affair - American Legoin Post 325 in Holyoke. Millane is married to Frances Stapleton '48. They have four children -- Jeremiah III, Louise George, and Marie Schlosstein, who are teachers, and Micheal, who is a Field Respresentive for the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers.
