Tom Morrissey - 1997 Inductee

The two-time All-ECAC hockey player is the finest defenseman in the school?s storied history. Mr. Morrissey is Fitchburg State's all-time leading scorer among defensemen with 107 career points. He tallied 48 goals and 59 assists over his four year career. His 30 points in 1979-80 and 27 in 1981-82 rank 3rd and 4th among highest scoring seasons for a defenseman.

Mr. Morrissey was twice a team captain and in 1982 was named Fitchburg State Male Athlete of the Year. He was also a two-time All-ECAC performer.

Earlier this year, Mr. Morrissey opened his private practice as a cardiothoracic surgeon in Stuart, Florida. He recently concluded his postgraduate training , which included a General Surgery Residency at the Louisiana State University Medical Center (1988-94), Clinical and Research Fellow at Brigham and Women?s Hospital (1991-92) and a Cardiothoracic Surgical Fellowship at the University of Rochester (1995-97).

Mr. Morrissey, who received his Doctor of Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University, is married to Manju Reddy Morrissey, M.D.
