Fitchburg State Falls To Pitt-Greensburg, 14-3

Hans posts 2-for-3 performances in Falcons non-conference setback

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 13, 2013) – The Fitchburg State baseball team suffered a tough setback this evening, falling to the University of Pittsburgh (Greensburg), 14-3 at Lake Region High School.

The Falcons were limited to just six hits on the evening, including a 2-for-3 performance from sophomore Pierce Hans (Washington Township, N.J./Westwood). Freshman Javier Lozada (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) chipped in with a bunt single and stolen base, while junior David Mason (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) reached based all three times with a pair of walks and a hit by pitch.

Newcomer Max Tejeda (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) suffered the loss on the hill for the Falcons, yielding four earned runs over two innings pitched, while senior Rafael Figuereo, Jr. (Dorchester, Mass./Roxbury CC) was a bright spot for the Fitchburg State pitching staff, tossing 1.1 innings of shutout relief.  

Fitchburg State (2-2, 0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action tomorrow as it battles Wentworth tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
