Drury Earns ABCA/Rawling All-Region Honors

Ashburnham, Mass. native named To ABCA/Rawling NCAA DIII All-Region First Team

FITCHBURG, Mass. (July 31, 2014) – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings recently announced its NCAA Division III All- Region teams, as freshman Steven Drury, Jr. (Ashburnham, Mass.) was selected to the All-Region New England first team.

The ABCA and Rawlings recognize the eight All-Region teams in the NCAA DIII from New England, New York, the Mid-Atlantic, South, Mideast, Central, Midwest and West regions with teams voted upon by the regional coaches.

This season, Drury, Jr witnessed a stellar rookie campaign for the Green and Gold as he led the MASCAC in average (.438), slugging (.742), on base percentage (.531) and triples (9) en route to co-conference Rookie of the Year accolades. He was also second in doubles (15) and runs scored (35), third in hits (56), tied for sixth in RBIs (27) and ninth with 11 swipes. Drury, Jr tops the NCAA Division III in three-baggers while his on base percentage is eighth, on-base percentage is 11th and hitting clip is 12th.

Drury, a two-time ECAC Division III New England Player of the Week honoree, was also named to the First-Team All-NEIBA, MASCAC All-Conference first team and the ECAC Division III New England Rookie of the Year. In addition, Steven was also crowned the NCAA DIII statistical champion in triples.
