MASCAC Postseason Baseball Honors Announced; Barnaby Chosen as Conference Coach of the Year

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) has announced its all-conference teams and annual award winners for the 2016 baseball season. First-year coach Kevin Barnaby of Fitchburg State has earned the 2016 Champion's Choice Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Falcons to a 10-4 league record and the third seed in the MASCAC Tournament.

In addition, Fitchburg State senior first baseman Brendan Cutler was named to the All-MASCAC First Team, while senior pitcher/outfielder Javier Lozada was named to the All-MASCAC Second Team.

Joining Cutler on the 2016 MASCAC first-team All-Conference squad are Bridgewater State's Ryan Feeney, Massachusetts Maritime's Logan Sullo and Connor Kennedy, Salem State's Sean Buckland and Jose Cedano, Dan Connors, Mike Davis and Richard Fecteau, Westfield State's John Gegetskas and Danny Dimatteo and Worcester State's Jake Ryan. 

The 2016 MASCAC second-team is comprised of Lozada, Bridgewater State's David Holmes and Travis Ritchie, Framingham State's Jon Chapman, Cole Josselyn, Kyle Pileski, Anthony Venuti and Ryan Wardwell, Massachusetts Maritime's Kyle Kennedy and Jake Petruzzelli and Salem State's Joe White.

The third-seeded Falcons are scheduled to host #6 Framingham State on day one of the MASCAC Tournament on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
