Worcester Area Baseball All-Stars Announced

WORCESTER, Mass. - The sixth annual Worcester Area Baseball All-Star team has been announced after a vote by sports information directors representing all 10 Worcester area colleges and universities, and Fitchburg State has four representatives on the second team. In addition, Falcons' head coach Kevin Barnaby shared Worcester Area Coach of the Year honors with Nichols head coach Nick Puccio.

Barnaby, in his first season at the helm at Fitchburg State guided the Falcons to a MASCAC playoff berth as the #3 seed after being selected to finish sixth in the preseason poll. Fitchburg State finished the season with an overall record of 18-20 and a 10-4 mark in the league play.

Seniors Brendan Cutler (Clinton, Mass.) and Javier Lozada (New Bedford, Mass.) made second team at designated hitter and pitcher, respectively. In 34 games, Cutler batted .333 (42 for 126) with 21 RBI and 22 runs scored. He also had 14 doubles and 17 stolen bases in 22 attempts. Lozada appeared in 11 games, starting in nine. He posted a 4-2 record with a 4.03 ERA as the squad's #2 starter. Over 51 1/3 innings, Lozada allowed 58 hits, 21 walks, and 23 earned runs, while striking out 39.

Sophomores Nathan Littman (Abington, Mass.) and Tommy Parsons (Peabody, Mass.) made second team at catcher and pitcher, respectively. In 35 games, Littman batted .355 (43 for 121) with one home run, 24 RBI and 30 runs scored. He also had eight doubles and 18 stolen bases in 23 attempts. Parsons appeared in 11 games, starting in nine. He posted a 6-4 record with a 3.49 ERA as the squad's #1 starter. Over 59 1/3 innings, Parsons allowed 46 hits, 33 walks, and 23 earned runs, while striking out 65.
