Milliard and Cuddahy lead Falcons to non-conference victory 

Auburndale, Fla. – The Fitchburg State University baseball team rallied to defeated the McDaniel College Green Terror, 10-9 in non-conference action on day two of the Falcons annual spring trip to Florida on Sunday morning.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring in the top of the second inning as sophomore Brennan Cuddahy (Leominster, Mass.) blasted a two-run home run before newcomer Nicholas Cordeau (Melrose, Mass.) added a two-run single for the 4-0 advantage.

McDaniel battled back to take a 6-4 lead after plating six runs in the second and third frames before the Falcons knotted the score at 6-6 in the top sixth when sophomore Timothy Horton (Northampton, Mass.) drove in classmate Brandon Lefebvre (Leominster, Mass.) with a sacrifice fly.

Trailing 8-6 going into the top half of the eighth, the Green and Gold rallied again to take a 10-6 advantage as junior Noah Milliard (Leominster, Mass.) launched a three-run home run to right field that scored senior Andrew Currie (Quincy, Mass.) and Cordeau, resulting in the 10-9 final.

Inside the Numbers

Third meeting between the two schools on the baseball diamond with the Falcons currently 2-1 all-time when taking on the Green Terror.

Two team had split the previous two matchups with McDaniel coming away with a 12-6 win in the last meeting on March 16, 2016.

The Falcons were paced by Milliard, who finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI, while Cuddahy went 2-for-5, including a home run, a double, one run scored and two RBI.

On the mound, junior Andrew Dunn (Danvers, Mass.) picked up the win for the Green and Gold after allowing one run on three hits with one K in one inning of work, while classmate Adam Somers (Framingham, Mass.) earned the save for Fitchburg State, giving up just one hit with five strikeouts in two innings of relief.
