Cordeau Selected MASCAC Baseball Player/Rookie Of The Week

Melrose, Mass. native earns first weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman outfielder Nicholas Cordeau (Melrose, Mass.) was tabbed both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first year Falcon hit .417 (10-for-24) with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, four walks, seven runs scored and 11 RBI, while slugging .917 in a 4-1-1 week for the Green and Gold. Cordeau finished a combined 5-0f-10 with a double, triple, home run, four runs scored and six RBI in a win and a tie with MCLA on Monday before adding a 3-for-6 effort at the dish with a double, triple, home run, three RBI and one run scored in a setback to Rhode Island College on Friday.

Nicholas concluded the week, drawing one walk, one run scored and an RBI in a 3-0 game two win over Bridgewater State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State baseball team (9-11-2, 3-2-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Westfield State to take on the Owls for a MASCAC double-headers, starting at 1:00 PM.
