Towle Named MASCAC Baseball Pitcher And Rookie Of The Week

Westfield, Mass. native collects third weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman pitcher Ryan Towle (Westfield, Mass.) was selected both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Pitcher and Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year hurler earns his third weekly accolade on the year after posting an ERA of 1.38, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with 14 strikeouts in 13 innings of work in two wins for the Green and Gold.

Ryan gave up two earned runs on five hits with four K's over six innings of work in an 11-3, game one win over Worcester State on Tuesday before collecting a complete game, two-hit shutout victory with ten strikeouts in a 5-0 game two triumph over Framingham State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State baseball team (12-16-2, 6-7-1 MASCAC) returns to action tomorrow as it hosts the Lynx of Lesley University for a non-conference match up, starting at 3:30 PM.
