2019 Fitchburg State Baseball Schedule Announced

Falcons slated to open 2019 season at Salve Regina on March 2nd

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State baseball team's 2019 season has been announced with the Falcons slated play a total of 40 games, including seven games during its annual spring trip to Lake Myrtle, Florida.

The Green and Gold concluded last season with an overall record of 13-17-2 and a 6-7-1 mark with Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play, en-route to earning the fifth seed in the 2018 MASCAC Baseball post-season tournament.

This season, Fitchburg State is scheduled to play two teams who qualified for the 2018 NCAA DIII Regionals, while also playing six teams that won at least 20 games last season.

"We should compete towards the top half of our conference." Said Fitchburg State head baseball coach Kevin Barnaby. "Our conference is very deep this year and with the new three game format being implemented, it will be a grind each week" continued Barnaby.

Sophomore Ryan Towle (Westfield, Mass.) is the Falcons top returning pitcher from last season after posting a team-best 1.53 ERA, while classmate Nicholas Cordeau (Melrose, Mass.) ranked second on the squad with a .304 batting average.

Other impact returners include junior Brennan Cuddahy (Leominster, Mass.), who hit .258 with 20 RBI, while classmate Richard Sharp (Townsend, Mass.) concluded the 2018 season with an overall record of 2-2 with an ERA of 2.89.

Senior Tommy Parsons (Peabody, Mass.) provides the Falcons pitching squad with some leadership after registering 43 strikeouts during his junior campaign, while veteran Noah Millard (Leominster, Mass.) adds versatility for the Green and Gold in both the infield and outfield after batting .324 with 23 hits, including six doubles, two homers, 16 runs scored and 13 RBI.

Top incoming players for the Green and Gold this season are freshman Brendan Ferrell and Vincent Eramo among others.

"Our 2019 schedule includes a mix of tough non-conference opponents such as Fontbonne, Suffolk, Salve Regina and Clark, in addition to the always competitive MASCAC slate of games, which include Salem State, Framingham State and Westfield State as well as MCLA, Mass. Maritime, Bridgewater State and Sterling Cup rival Worcester State" said head baseball coach Kevin Barnaby.
