Pingitore Earns MASCAC Baseball Player Of The Week Honors

Rutland, Mass. native collects first weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State senior catcher Matthew Pingitore (Rutland, Mass.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The fourth-year Falcon batted .500 (6-for-12) with five runs scored, one walk and one stolen base, while finishing with a .625 on-base percentage and slugging .500 in a 2-1 week for the Green and Gold.

Pingitore notched one hit and two runs scored in a 9-4 setback to Wheaton College on Tuesday before adding a 4-for-5 effort with two runs scored and one RBI in a 7-6 triumph over Dean on Thursday. Concluded the week, registering one hit, one run scored and a walk in a 7-6, 12 inning marathon win over Penn State-Abington on Sunday evening.

The Fitchburg State baseball team (2-2, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on today as they take on the Rams of Suffolk University for a non-conference double header at the Russ Matt Invitational in Lake Myrtle, Fla., starting at 2:45 PM.
