Valerio Named MASCAC Football Player and Rookie Of The Week
Lawrence, Mass. native earns second straight conference weekly honor of the year
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State sophomore quarterback Nelson Valerio (Lawrence, Mass./Lawrence) was recently selected both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Sunday afternoon.
Valerio earns his second consecutive MASCAC weekly honor on the season after completing 19-of-26 passes for 289 yards and four touchdown passes with a completion percentage of 73.1 percent in Fitchburg State's 31-10 win over Castleton University in non-conference action on Saturday evening.
The Fitchburg State football team (1-1, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Saturday afternoon as it travels to Worcester State to take on the Lancers for a contest starting at 12 p.m. to open conference play.
