Watford Named MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week
Meriden, Conn. native earns first weekly accolade of the season
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State junior defensive lineman Cyrick Watford (Meriden, Conn.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) defensive player of the week as announced by the league on Sunday afternoon.
The tri-captain totaled seven tackles on seven assisted stops with one sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and then returned the fumble 83 yards for a touchdown in the Falcons' 31-29 conference win over Bridgewater State.
The Fitchburg State football team (2-2, 1-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Saturday afternoon as it travels to Massachusetts Maritime Academy to take on the Buccaneers for a contest starting at 1 PM.
