Lynn, Mass. native earns national accolade

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State senior running back Jevon Brown-Simpson (Lynn, Mass.) will represent the Fitchburg State football squad at the 2017 National Bowl, played at Daytona Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida on Sunday, December 10th with kickoff slated for 9:30 AM.

The senior tailback concluded his 2017 campaign, ranking first on the team with 857 rushing yards on 196 carries and seven touchdowns, while also hauling in 13 passes for 74 yards in ten games for the Green and Gold.

The National Bowl Game is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of top players from Non-FBS schools. In the first three years, the National Bowl was played at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, Penn, while the 4th Annual National Bowl Game was played at Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, PA and for 3 years at FIU Stadium in Miami before the move to Daytona Beach Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL in 2016. The National Bowl showcases All-American and All Conference seniors from around the Nation that travel to the  game from over 30 states representing over 400+ Division 2,3, and NAIA schools. Players travel to the game from as far as Texas, Arkansas, Oregon, Colorado, Michigan, Utah, South Dakota and more. The National Bowl is the elite and only current post-season all-star game to focus on players below D1/FBS/FCS that get the opportunity to play in front of many NFL and CFL scouts and consistently gets 12 - 15 NFL Teams in attendance. The National Bowl is presented by SPIRAL / East Preps LLC and founded by owner Michael Quartey Esq., also a former NFL Agent and All American football player at F&M. The weekend includes an Agents Conference with top NFL/CFL Agents, former NFL Scouts, former NFL Coaches, and industry professionals at the Ocean Center Convention Center in Daytona Beach, FL. Former NFL & AFL Coach Brian Ferguson Assistant Coach at Tusculum College will return for the 4th year in a row to Head Coach the American Team while former NFL Player, Team America, UNC Football, and Pro European Coach Bobby Rome is set to Head Coach the National Team in the 8th annual National Bowl.

The rosters give NFL/CFL scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools over the bowl weekend. The National Bowl is coached by pro coaches and has featured coaches such as NFL Coach Mike Stock formerly of the Green Bay Packers, and other Pro coaches from the AFL and arena leagues. The game has been attended by scouts from the NFL's St Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, the CFL's Montreal Alouettes, AFL's Tampa Bay Storm, and Philadelphia, Soul.  All 32 NFL teams receive and review the National Bowl game film and the game has been touted by the Sports Agents Blog as a secret weapon for smaller school prospects.

The Fitchburg State football team concluded the 2017 season with an overall record of 3-7 and a 2-6 clip in the MASCAC.
