PLYMOUTH, N.H. (October 8, 2011) – The Fitchburg State field hockey team fell to conference foe, Plymouth State University, 2-0 in Little East Conference action this afternoon.

Plymouth State started the game out strong, totaling two early goals in the first six minutes, and then put together a strong defensive effort to hang on for its tenth victory of the season. Sophomore Jackie Morin got things started for the Panthers, driving home a pass from senior Lauren Bergeron 0:53 into the game, while junior Olivia Colborn added to the Plymouth State lead less than five minutes later, redirecting a pass in front of the net from sophomore Lauren Carroll

Senior goalkeeper Taylor Begin (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) kept Fitchburg State in the contest, making a career-high 12 saves, but the Panther defense proved to be too strong, collecting its fifth shutout of the season.
