Field Hockey Earns Pair Of LEC All-Academic Honors

Petit and Polimeni named to the LEC All-Academic Team

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior Emily Petit and sophomore Emma Polimeni were recently named to the 2015 Little East Conference Fall All-Academic team as announced by the league office Wednesday morning.

Members of the 2015 LEC All-Academic team must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the 2015 spring semester and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.

Petit, a three-year member of the Fitchburg State field hockey team, achieved a grade point average of 3.31 with a major in Nursing to earn her second straight nomination, while Polimeni earned her first nomination with a  stellar GPA of 3.83 in the field of Nursing.

This season, Petit aided a Falcon offense that posted 38 goals and 24 assists, appearing in 19 contests for the Green and Gold from the midfield with five games started, while Polimeni helped anchor Fitchburg State's backline in limiting opponents to a minimal 1.6 goals per contest, seeing action 19 games for the Falcons.

The Fitchburg State field hockey team concluded its 2015 campaign with an overall record of 11-9 and a 4-7 mark in the LEC.
