Field Hockey Names Six To National Academic Squad
Fletcher, LaPerle, Malboeuf, Mammone, Pare and Richard earn ZAG/NFHCA DIII National Academic honors
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team recently earned the 2017 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Team Academic Award for achieving a cumulative team Grade Point Average of 3.02 as well as having six members named to the 2017 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) last week.
Freshman Sophia Laperle (Auburn, Mass.), classmate Paytan Malboeuf (Gardiner, Mass.), sophomores Rhiannon Fletcher (Royalston, Mass.) and Kasey Mammone (Leominster, Mass.), junior Molly Richard (Leominster, Mass.) and senior Mia Pare (Leominster, Mass.) each earned 2017 ZAG Field Hockey/ NFHCA Individual Academic Awards for achieving a grade point average of 3.3 or high during the 2017 fall semester.
In addition, Richard also earned to the 2017 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division Scholars of Distinction honors for having achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester for the 2017-18 academic year.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year, while also recognizing teams who have cumulatively achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Members of the 2017 Fitchburg State field hockey team included Jessica Kilduff, Jillian Schultze, Aislinn DeHorsey, Rachael Denning, Casey Noonan, Olivia Grant, Bailey Miller, Madison Cole, Mia Pare, Sophia Laperle, Chloe Gladu, Kerra Anastasia, Molly Richard, Sophia Napoli, Paytan Malboeuf, Nicole Tocco, Kaelie Hosley, Kasey Mammone and Rhiannon Fletcher.
The Fitchburg State field hockey team concluded its 2017 campaign with an overall record of 9-8 and a 5-6 mark in the LEC.
