Paxton, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team fell 2-1 in double overtime to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in non-conference action on Thursday evening.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State controlled the first half jumping out to a 1-0 advantage at the 12:52 mark of the first frame. Forward Nicole Tocco (Gloucester, Mass.) converted a rebound shot from senior Molly Richard (Leominster, Mass.) for the sophomore's sixth tally of the season.

The AMCATS knotted the score at 1-1 just before the first intermission when junior Anne Melanson (Grafton, Mass) scored an unassisted goal.

After a scoreless second stanza and a first overtime the AMCATS notched the game-winner off the stick of Chayna Bingham-Hendricks (Mashpee, Mass.) who converted a corner pass from teammate Abigayle Celatra (Baldwinville, Mass.).

By the Numbers

Sophomore Kaelie Hosley (Barre, Mass.) seeing emergency action in net, made four saves in seventy minutes of action. Freshman Cassandra Micklesavage (Pottstown, PA) posted five saves for the win.

Fitchburg State University held the advantage in corners (13-3) and shots (9-7).
