Bristol, R.I. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to the Hawks of Roger Williams this afternoon in non-conference action from the Bayside Field.

How It Happened

Roger Williams grabbed a 1-0 edge at the 6:50 mark of the first quarter as junior Emma Stevens (Brewster, Mass.) connected for her first tally on the season before the Hawks double their margin (2-0) in the 10th minute of play when senior Sydney McCarthy (Little Falls, N.Y) netted her second goal of the 2019 campaign.

In the second quarter, Roger Williams upped their lead at the 20:22 mark with senior Alex Coppinger (Guilderland, N.Y.) finding the back of the net for her first tally on the year to make the score 3-0 going into the break.

Following the break, the Hawks extended their advantage (4-0) early in the third frame as sophomore Hannah Palmer (Essex Junction, Vt.) would notched her first goal on the year, resulting in the 6-0 final.

This afternoon's contest marks the fifth matchup between the two schools in field hockey with the Falcons 1-4 all-time when taking on the Hawks
