Craig nets third tally of the season for Fitchburg State in conference setback 

Worcester, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University field hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to the Lancers of Worcester State University this afternoon in Little East Conference (LEC) action from Coughlin Field.

How It Happened

Worcester State grabbed a 1-0 lead 1:19 into the contest as senior Olivia Antoneli (Westford, Mass.) found the back of the cage off a penalty corner off assists from Alexa Bobbin (Charlestown, R.I.) and Cassidy Windler (Holden, Mass.).

The Lancers doubled their advantage minutes later when senior Sophia Monopoli (Worcester, Mass.) netted a marker of rebound before Rachel Hopkins (Chelmsford, Mass.) connected a score with four seconds left in the half for the 3-0 margin going into the break.

Following the intermission, the hosts upped its lead in the 42nd minute of play on Hopkins second tally of the contest to make the score 4-0. Fitchburg State answered back with 2:10 left in the contest with sophomore Sarah Craig (Winchendon, Mass.) registering her team-leading third goal on the 2019 campaign, resulting in the 4-1 final.

Worcester State has won the last five contests against Fitchburg State, including a 5-0 decision last season at Elliot Field
