Kassel Named LEC Field Hockey Rookie Of The Week

Stuttgart, Germany native collects third weekly honor of the season

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman forward Lena Kassel (Stuttgart, Germany) was recently tabbed Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year Falcon earns her third weekly accolade of the season after posting six points on two goals and two helpers in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold. Kassel netted one marker and two assists in a 6-1 triumph over Westfield State on Wednesday before adding the lone goal in the Falcons 1-0, shutout victory against Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State field hockey team (6-5, 4-2 LEC) returns to action on Tuesday as they host the Owls of Keene State for a Little East Conference matchup, starting at 4:00 PM.
