Field Hockey End Season with Win Over Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, MA: Fitchburg State field hockey took down the Bears of Bridgewater State this evening in MASCAC action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/27/23

- Score: Fitchburg 2, Bridgewater 1

- Records: Fitchburg (4-12, 3-7 MASCAC), Bridgewater (4-11, 1-9 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Bridgewater would strike first in this one, during the first quarter with 12:34 left. Erin Power scored her first goal of the season, giving her team the 1-0 lead. Charlotte McElroy was credited with the assists.

- Fitchburg wouldn't find the back of the net until the second half in the third quarter when Samantha Yates (Woodstock, VT) would knot it up at one on an unassisted goal, marking her second of the season.

- The Falcons game-winner came in the fourth quarter in the 54th minute when senior Joyce Arbia (Sag Harbor, NY) beat the Bears keeper to get the 2-1 final.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Jenna Morse (Leominster, MA) got the win (4-12) after making 9 saves on 10 shots faced. Kailey Hutchinson would be tagged with the loss (3-7) after making 7 saves on 9 shots faced.

-  Shots: Bridgewater 18, Fitchburg 15

-  Penalty Corners: Bridgewater 8, Fitchburg 6

UP NEXT:

- Fitchburg State field hockey concluded the regular season with the win. They will be back on the road Wednesday in the MASCAC quarterfinals. Where they will be heading will be decided after all MASCAC games are concluded on Saturday.
