Falcon Pair Earn MASCAC Player of the Week Honors

Quinn named Ice Hockey Player of the Week; Kibler crowned MASCAC Runner of the Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 16, 2010) – Sophomore Justin Quinn (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) and junior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) were tabbed the MASCAC Players of the Week in their respective sports as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.

Quinn brings home his first weekly honor of the season after leading the Fitchburg State ice hockey team to a pair of victories in the 2010 IC Federal Credit Union Shootout. The Falcons earned their second consecutive Shootout Championship this weekend paced by Quinn’s six points. The second-year forward notched a pair of goals to go with four assists on the weekend and was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

On the course, Kibler collected his third MASCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade after leading the Fitchburg State men’s team at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Williams College. Kibler tallied the top MASCAC performance of the weekend, completing the 8K course in a time of 27:46. The third-year runner turned in a 57th place effort, leading the Falcons to a 23rd place team finish out of 53 competitors.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (2-0-0, 0-0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action again on Thursday as it hosts Framingham State at 7 p.m, while the Falcons cross country teams concluded their 2010 campaign this weekend at the NCAA Regional Championships.
