Falcons Fall To Engineers, 89-55

Cambridge, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's basketball team dropped an 89-55 decision to the Engineers of MIT this afternoon in non-conference action at the Rockwell Cage.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the contest with a jumper by junior Kameron Jimenez-Fox (Boston, Mass.) before MIT went on a 6-0 run, capped by a pair of free-throws from junior Nacho Nwana (White Plains, N.Y.). The Falcons responded as sophomore Charles Doss (Fitchburg, Mass.) hit a jumper to make the score 6-4.

The Falcons chipped away at the deficit (30-8) midway through the first with junior Marcos Germosen (Lawrence, Mass.) connected on a jumper, but the Engineers countered with an 8-0 stretch as senior Cameron Korb (Los Caros, Calif.) drained a three ball for the 42-18 margin. Fitchburg State concluded the first half scoring on a free-throw by freshman Damian Pantoja (Meriden, Conn.) as MIT held a 50-21 lead going into the break.

Following the intermission, both teams traded baskets to start the second half with sophomore Ian Hinkley (Raleigh, N.C.) hitting the bucket for MIT, while junior Nicholas Tracy (Indianapolis, Ind.) connected for Fitchburg State. (53-23).

The Green and Gold continued to battle as junior Andre Ruff (Chicago, Ill.), classmate Tyrell St. John (Stamford, Conn.) and senior Charlie Ollis (Mobile, Ala.) made jumpers to cut the lead to 72-40 before the Engineers secured the victory on a basket by junior Christien Williams (Charlotte, N.C.), resulting in the 89-55 final.
