Betancourt Tabbed MASCAC Men’s Basketball Rookie Of The Week

Tampa, Fla. native earns second weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman guard Xavier Betancourt (Tampa, Fla.) was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year Falcon receives his second weekly honor on the season after averaging 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block over two games for the Green and Gold.

Betancourt posted 12 points, four rebounds and two blocks in a 73-67 triumph over Becker College on Monday before 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and two blocks in an 89-74 setback to WPI on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State men's basketball team (5-3, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action tomorrow as is travels to Williams College to take on the Ephs in non-conference action, starting at 7:00 PM.
