Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's basketball team posted an 87-75 victory over the Bears of Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon at the Tinsley Center.

How It Happened

Knotted at 14-14 the Falcons guard Bryan Tyrie (Hanson, Mass.) popped a three-pointer for the early lead (17-14). The Bears counted with six points from Stanley Pierre-Louis to forge ahead 30-25.

Fitchburg State finished the first half with a 5-0 run, capped by a three-point play from junior Tayjahn Joyner (Hadley, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 39-32 going into the break.

Sophomore Nathaniel Semedo (Bridgewater, Mass.) knocked down six points early in the second half to pace the Falcons on the comeback trail (43-42). Newcomer Frederick Siayor (Worcester, Mass.) drained a three-pointer at the 16:41 mark to give the Green and Gold a lead (45-43) that they would never relinquish.

Fitchburg State upped its margin (51-44) on a trey from junior Mikal Garcia (Fresno, Tex.) with 14:27 to play. The Falcons put the game out of reach with a 12-5 run over a three-minute span, including five points from Semedo to secure the first conference win of the season.
