Fitchburg State Upends Plymouth State, 4-1
Kaloustian nets two goals in key ECAC Northeast victory
WATERVILLE, N.H. (February 14, 2009) - Senior Bob Kaloustian (Marlborough, Mass./Suffolk) scored a pair of goals Saturday evening to lead Fitchburg State College to a 4-1 victory over Plymouth State University in ECAC Northeast Conference men's ice hockey action at Waterville Valley Arena.

The Falcons won their second straight contest and remained in contention for an ECAC Northeast play-off berth, improving to 10-8-5 overall and 7-5-3 in conference play. PSU's post-season hopes are fading as the Panthers dropped to 9-12-2 overall and 5-8-2 in the Northeast.
Sophomore Erik Trahan (Manville, R.I./Winchendon School) put the Falcons on the board eight minutes into the game with a power play marker, his first goal of the season. Plymouth State sophomore Sean Buckley (Sagamore, Mass./Sagamore) evened the game later in the period when he registered a power play goal at the 18:17 mark for his ninth score of the year.
In the second period, Fitchburg State increased its offensive presence, tallying a pair of unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead. Freshman Bryan Canter (Anchorage, AK/Helena Big Horns) notched his sixth goal of the season at 10:34 while Kaloustian following with his first score of the match.
In the final frame, Fitchburg State iced the game as Kaloustian netted an insurance goal, his second of the game, at the 7:46 mark. Fitchburg State finished with a 41-34 advantage in shots on goal, while converting 2-of-6 power-play attempts. Sophomore goaltender Robert Vorse (Leominster, Mass./Bay State Breakers) made 33 saves in net for the Falcons, while Plymouth State freshman Allen Schneider (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) finished with 37 saves.
Fitchburg State (10-8-5, 7-5-3 ECAC NE) travels to Franklin Pierce University on Monday for a match starting at 7 p.m. Plymouth State (9-12-2, 5-8-2 ECAC NE) will also travel to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
