Wolcott Tabbed MASCAC Goalie Of The Week

East Haven, Conn. native collects sixth accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 25, 2013) – Junior Randy Wolcott (East Haven, Conn./Wisconsin-Stevens Point) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Goalie of the Week as announced by the league office Sunday evening.

Wolcott collects his sixth weekly honor of the season after collecting 67 saves with a .905 saves percentage in two games this week. The junior goaltender made 19 stops in the Falcons 5-1 setback to Plymouth State University on Tuesday evening before turning aside 48 of the 51 shots he faced in Fitchburg State’s 4-3 victory over the fourth seeded Owls of Westfield State in quarterfinal round action of the 2012-13 MASCAC Ice Hockey Tournament on Saturday.

On the season, the second year Falcon has posted 709 saves with a 2.80 goals against average and a .923 save percentage, while logging over 1262 minutes between the pipes.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (11-13-2, 9-8-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as it visits the top seeded Panthers of Plymouth State University in semifinal round action of the MASCAC Tournament starting at 6 p.m.
