Figi Named MASCAC Ice Hockey Rookie Of The Week

Kloten, Switzerland native earns third weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman forward Sascha Figi (Kloten, Switzerland) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year Falcon picks up his third weekly accolade of the season after netting three points on two goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for Fitchburg State. Figi registered one goal and one helper in a 4-3 setback to Westfield State on Thursday before adding one score in a 4-2 win over previously unbeaten Worcester State in conference play on Saturday evening.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (7-3-1, 3-2-1 MASCAC) is off until after the break, when it hosts the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, January 6th for a contest starting at 4:00 P.M.
