DiNicola Crowned NCAA DIII Ice Hockey Statistical Champion

Wolcott, Conn. native earns national accolade

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State junior forward Nick DiNicola (Wolcott, Conn.) was recently crowned the NCAA Division III Ice Hockey statistical champion in assists per game, concluding his junior season by leading the nation among all division three schools, averaging 1.33 helpers per game for the Green and Gold.

This year, DiNicola witnessed a breakout season for the Fitchburg State ice hockey squad, ranking first on the team with 47 points on 11 scores and 36 assists as well as three game winning goals in 27 contests for the Falcons.

Thus far in his career, Nick has amassed a total of 92 points on 24 markers and 68 assists as well as five game winning scores and three power play tallies in 78 career games for Fitchburg State.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team concluded the 2017-18 campaign with an overall record of 18-7-3 and an 11-4-3 clip in MASCAC play, en-route to capturing the MASCAC post-season tournament championship and earn the Falcons first trip into the NCAA DIII Ice Hockey Championship Tournament.
