Figi Named 2018-19 CCM/AHCA Men’s DII/III Ice Hockey All-American

Kloten, Switzerland native earns national accolade

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Sophomore forward Sascha Figi (Kloten, Switzerland) was recently named to the 2019-19 CCM Hockey/AHCA (American Hockey Coaches Association) Men's DII/III All-American East Third Team as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday evening.

Figi witnessed a stellar sophomore season for the Falcons, posting a team and conference leading 46 points on 25 goals and 21 assists as well as 12 power-play tallies and two game winners in 26 contests for the Green and Gold.

The NCAA Division II-III men's hockey coaches have recognized the top 30 hockey players in their division by selecting them as CCM Hockey/AHCA All-Americans for 2018-19. It is a diverse group, coming from 18 schools, 14 states and three Canadian Provinces as well as three players from outside North America.

Leading the way was Geneseo with four honorees, followed by St. Norbert College with three. By class, there were 13 seniors, ten juniors and seven sophomores. Adrian senior Cory Dunn, a three-peat at First Team after a Second Team selection as a freshman, is among six players who have been previously recognized.

The CCM Hockey/AHCA All-American Hockey Teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team, recently concluded its 2018-19 season with an overall record of 12-12-2 and a 9-7-2 clip within conference play, en-route to earning the fifth seed in the 2018-19 MASCAC Ice Hockey Postseason tournament.
