Figi Tabbed NCAA DIII Ice Hockey Statistical Champion In Two Categories

Kloten, Switzerland native led nation in goal per game and power play goals  

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State ice hockey sophomore forward Sascha Figi (Kloten, Switzerland) was named the 2019 NCAA men's ice hockey statistical champion in both goals per game and power play goals after leading the nation in both categories as announced by the NCAA earlier this week.

The second-year Falcons finished the 2019 campaign with a nation leading .96 goals per contest, while also finishing tops in the country with 12 power play markers for the Green and Gold.

Figi witnessed a stellar sophomore season, totaling a conference best 46 points on 25 scores and 21 helpers as well as 12 power play goals in 26 games for Fitchburg State. For his efforts, Sascha was selected the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year.

In addition, the sophomore forward was also named a 2018-19 CCM/AHCA DII/III Ice Hockey All-American as well as collecting All-New England Honors after being selected to the 2018-19 New England DII/III Men's Ice Hockey All-Star Team.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team concluded the 2019 season with an overall record of 12-12-2 and a 9-7-2 clip in conference play, en-route to earning the fifth seed in the 2019 MASCAC Ice Hockey post-season tournament.
