Perry nets two goals for Fitchburg State in consolation round of 55th annual Codfish Bowl

Boston, Mass. – The Fitchburg State ice hockey team dropped a tough 3-2 overtime decision to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus in the consolation round of the 55th annual Codfish Bowl Tournament this afternoon, hosted by UMass Boston.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring 7:43 into the first period as junior Kevin Perry (Hull, Mass.) collected a feed from classmate Joseph Miller (Malton, N.J.) and deposited a shot into the back of the net for his first marker on the season for the 1-0 margin.

Albertus Magnus tied the contest (1-1) with 12 minutes remaining in the opening frame when freshman Sebastian Laquerre (Levis, Que.) netted his first collegiate tally off an assist from classmate Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que.).

In the second period of play, Albertus Magnus grabbed the lead at the 6:23 mark as freshman Alexander Lazier (Pointe-Claire, Que.) connected on a power play tally for his second score of the 2019-20 season for the 2-1 advantage.

The Green and Gold would knot the score at 2-2 with six and half minutes remaining in regulation with Perry notching his second tally of the contest as Miller and freshman Trent Shanley (Hillsdale, N.J.) assisted on the play.

In the overtime period, Albertus Magnus earned the win just 14 seconds into the frame when Lazier took a feed from Weitzman and struck for his second goal on the afternoon, resulting in the 3-2 final.
