Ice Hockey Collects Draw With Panthers

Nedelka nets first collegiate tally for Green and Gold

Plymouth, NH. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team earned a 3-3 overtime draw with the Panthers of Plymouth State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Hanaway Rink.

How It Happened

Plymouth State opened the scoring 7:35 into the first period as senior Anton Jellvik (Malmo, Sweden) found the back of the net for his third tally of the 2023-24 campaign with assists from junior Dante DiPonio (Trenton, MI) and senior Carson Lanceleve (Stewiacke, NS)for the 1-0 advantage.

The Panthers doubled the lead (2-0) with just under four minutes remaining in the frame with freshman Eddie Mulligan (Lincoln, RI) receiving a feed from Jellvik and DiPonio before depositing a shot into the left side of the net for his first tally of the season.

In the middle stanza, Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 2-1 with just over a minute remaining in the frame when junior Michael Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) fired a shot that trickled into the net for his first score on the year as sophomore Trenton Skagga (Oconomocwoc, WI) assisted on the play.

In the third period of play, the hosts pushed the lead to 3-1 with junior Josh Kagan (Winnipeg, Manitoba) finding the back of the net for his first marker of the season as newcomer Andrew Stuckless (Conception Bay, NF) and junior Cam Patton (Truro, NS) assisted on the play.

The Falcons battled back as freshman Adam Nedelka (Srch, Czech Republic) blasted a shot on frame into the right side of net for his first collegiate tally with assists from classmate Michael Imala (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and junior Jeremy Maillet (Leominster, MA,) to make the score 3-2. The Green and Gold forced the overtime with four and half minutes left in regulation when Imala collected a pass from junior Samuel Rennick (Salisbury, MA) and newcomer Andrew Woloszyn (Windham, NH), who tucked a shot inside the left side of the net for his third marker of the year as the Falcons managed a 3-3 draw.
