Macchioni tabbed Goaltender of the week; Imala named Rookie of the Week

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State junior goaltender Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) and freshman forward Michael Imala (Oak Lawn, IL) were recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Macchioni collects his first weekly accolade on the year after totaling 53 saves with a 0.98 goals against average and a .964 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold. Max stopped all 30 shots he faced in a 1-0, overtime triumph over MCLA on Thursday before adding 23 saves in a 4-2 victory against Salem State on Saturday.

Imala notched his third weekly honor of the season after netting two points on one goal, including the game winner as well as one helper in a 4-2 victory over Salem State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team (7-3-2, 6-1-2 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to Tufts University to take on the Jumbos for a non-conference tilt with a 7:00 PM puck drop.
