Ice Hockey Shutout by Tufts

MEDFORD, MA: Fitchburg State ice hockey fell to Tufts University this evening in non-conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/9/24

- Score: Tufts 2, Fitchburg 0

- Records: Tufts (7-4-1), Fitchburg (7-4-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  This low scoring contest ended in the favor of the hosting team. The Jumbos found the back of the net just twice against Falcons tender Cameron Isabelle (Leominster, MA). Isabelle made 34 saves in 33 minutes of action this evening. Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) would come in to complete the rest of the contest, compiling ten saves.

- The first Tufts goal came in the first period at the 7:13 mark by John Mulvihill. He was assisted by Cole Dubicki and Jack Hughes.

- The Jumbos would go up with one more in the second period with 5:45 left on a Harrison Bazianos goal, with Max Resnick credited with the assist. Gustave Bylin was perfect in net, stopping all 28 shots he faced, completing the shutout.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Tufts 46, Fitchburg 28

-  Penalties: Tufts 2 minutes on 1 infraction. Fitchburg had 6 minutes on 3 infractions.

-  Saves: Fitchburg 44, Tufts 28
