Salem State Tops Fitchburg State, 2-0
Carey notches three saves for Falcons
SALEM, Mass. (September 27, 2008) - The Fitchburg State men's soccer team fell to Salem State College in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference action this afternoon at Alumni Field.

Junior Andrew Angus (Boston, Mass./Charlestown) led the Salem State offense, posting three points on one goal and one assist. Newcomer Carlos DeOliveira (Peabody, Brazil/Peabody) added one goal for the Vikings.
Salem State opened the scoring late in the first half as DeOliveira connected for his first collegiate goal off a helper from Angus in the 40th minute. Less than one minute later, Angus added his team-high fifth goal of the season to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
The Fitchburg State offense pressured the Vikings in the second half, posting a 4-2 advantage in shots, but could not capitalize as senior Pawel Brzyczy (Krakow, Poland/Ware) recorded three second-half saves to preserve the Viking victory. Junior goaltender Matt Carey (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) totaled one save in each half to lead the Falcons defensively.
Fitchburg State (4-4, 0-2 MASCAC) is back in action Wednesday as it hosts Clark University at 7 p.m. Salem State (7-0, 2-0 MASCAC) will travel to Southern Maine on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
