Falcons embark on second community service project under Thissen regime

FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 12, 2011) – The Fitchburg State men' soccer team is giving back to the Fitchburg community again this year as the Falcons are set to offer their services at the Fitchburg library.

After helping the Senior Center last season, the Fitchburg State men's soccer team is ready to give the Fitchburg library a helping hand. From September through October, members of the men's soccer team will volunteer each week, helping the library staff move and organize shelves, books etc.

"It is important to me that our guys connect with the city and give back to the community, " said second year Head Coach, Werner Thissen.  "Knowing that the library is dealing with a small budget, we believe this will be a welcomed project and great way to give back to the community."

This season, the Fitchburg State men's soccer team has posted an overall record of 2-9-1 with a 1-3-0 mark in the MASCAC. Senior Lionso Ventura (Westminster, Mass./Oakmont) has led the Falcons offense with a team-high 11 points, totaling five goals and one assist, while sophomore Chris Kleindl (Tokyo, Japan/American School) has added seven points with a trio of scores and one helper. Innet, freshman Aidan Hanratty (E. Bridgewater, Mass./E. Bridgewater) has logged 980 minutes, totaling a 2.30 goals against average and 73 saves.
