Fitchburg State Doubles Down Rivier, 2-0

DeAmicis extends Falcons shutout streak to nearly 327 minutes with three saves

FITCHBURG, Mass. (October 10, 2012) – The Fitchburg State men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to three games as it defeated Rivier College, 2-0 in non-conference action at Elliot Field.

Fitchburg State came out gunning, scoring the first tally of the game just 7:58 as junior Carmen Bordonaro (Saugus, Mass./Saugus) grabbed a loose ball rebound in front of the goal and slipped the ball past Rivier keeper Matthew St. Peter (Colchester, Vt./Colchester). Bordonaro found the lower right corner of the net, collecting his fourth goal of the year, for the Falcons 1-0 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Falcons doubled their lead in the 64th minutes as senior George Sullivan (Milton, Mass./Milton) recorded his third of the season. Sullivan took a feed from classmate Jason Pereira (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and deposited the ball in the left side of the net for a 2-0 Fitchburg State advantage.

Senior Evan DeAmicis (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) extended the Fitchburg State shutout streak to nearly 327 minutes with a three save effort, while the Falcons defense limited the Raiders to just five shots in the match.
