Men's Soccer Defeated By Bison In Non-Conference Action

Campione notches first collegiate goal for Green and Gold

Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State University Men's Soccer Team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Bison of Nichols College this afternoon in non-conference action from Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Nichols grabbed the 1-0 lead at the 12;36 mark of the opening frame as sophomore forward Tristan Phillips (Rosendale, NY) fired a shot into the left side of net for his fourth goal of the season for the 1-0 edge.

The Bison doubled the lead (2-0) in the 44th minute of action with senior Coby Knight (Peterborugh, NH) collecting a feed from sophomore Shea Ullo (Bourne, MA) and finding the back of the net for his first tally of the 2023 campaign to make the score 2-0 going into the break.

Following the intermission, Fitchburg State threatened early in second half when senior Zachariah Foster (Brockton, MA) blasted a shot on target, but Bison keeper Franco Barretto Santana (Leominster, MA) was able to deny the shot to preserve the 2-0 margin.

Fitchburg State trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at the 71:21 mark as senior Francesco Campione (Newton, MA) settled a loose ball in front of the net and deposited a shot into the lower left corner for his first collegiate marker off an assist from newcomer Dante Ramadan (West Boylston, MA).

The visitors secured the victory in the 8rd minute of play with Stevenson finding the back of the net for his first marker of the year, resulting in the 3-1 final.
