Kibler Collects MASCAC Weekly Honor

Bath, Maine native named Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 14, 2010) –Fitchburg State junior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) was tabbed the MASCAC’s Men’s Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week this past week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.  


Kibler earns his first weekly honor of the season after posting a school course record at the Jim Sheehan Memorial last Friday. He finished first overall in the 4.75 mile layout, leading the Fitchburg State men’s team to a first place finish with a blazing time of 23:53.7. The 2010 season has started off strong for the junior runner with a pair of top five finishes, including a fourth place showing at the Keene State Invitational. Kibler led the Falcons to a third place team finish at the event, posting a time of 16:24 in the three mile race.

This season, the MASCAC is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and will honor numerous student-athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and other individuals who have had a profound impact in shaping the rich history and tradition of the member institutions that have comprised the league.

Earlier this summer, the MASCAC announced that it was changing its acronym to “Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference” to reflect the name change of six member institutions (Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State, Framingham State, Salem State, Westfield State and Worcester State) from College to University. In addition to the six universities listed, the MASCAC is also comprised of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

The Fitchburg State cross country teams will be back in action next Saturday as it travels to UMass Dartmouth for a race starting at 11 a.m.
