Falcons Take On Branwen Smith-King Invite

Stalters, McWhinnie-Armstead and Movsessian earn top five finishes

Medford, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team placed 12th overall at the 2019 Branwen Smith-King Invitational with a total of 23 points, hosted by Tufts University this afternoon at the Tufts Gantcher Field House.

How It Happened

Sophomore Christian McWhinnie-Armstead (Lowell, Mass.) paced the Falcons after placing third overall in the high jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 1.85 meters, while classmate Jacob Movsessian (New Ipswich, N.H.) turned in a fourth place time of 16:02.24 in the 5000 meter to qualify for MASCAC's.

Senior Cameron Stalters (Norton, Mass.) added a fifth place time of 8.75 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to qualify for MASCAC's, while the 4x400 meter relay team of junior junior Zachary Joseph (Hyde Park, Mass.), sophomore Asante Monteiro (Fall River, Mass.), freshman Michael Masterson (Pepperell, Mass.) and senior Ryan Stopka (Rochester, Mass.) posted an eighth place time of 3:46.32.

In the 60 meter dash, Joseph and Monteiro turned in post-season qualifying times of 7.23 seconds and 7.25 second after placing ninth and tenth respectively, while senior Joseph Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished eighth in the 5000 meter with post season qualifying time of 16:37.35.

In the 800 meter, Landress (2:06.68) and Sachetta (2:08.05) both qualified for MASCAC's, while freshman Brandon McNeil (Dartmouth, Mass.) collected a post-season qualifying mark of 6.14 meters in the long jump.

Senior Brendan Courtney (North Attleboro, Mass.) posted MASCAC qualifying marks in the shot put (11.29m) and the weight throw (11.55m), while McNeil and junior Wilkerson Pierre (Cambridge, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcons performances, placing 10th and 11th respectively in the triple jump with post-season qualifying marks of 12.37 meters and 12.28 meters.
