McWhinnie-Armstead Earns NCAA DIII Indoor Track All-Region Honors
Lowell, Mass. native collects national accolade in the high jump
Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State sophomore Christian McWhinnie-Armstead, Lowell, Mass.) recently earned 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field New England All-Region Honors in the high jump as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday afternoon.
The second-year Falcons collects his first NCAA DIII NE All-Region honor after capturing the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championship in the high jump with a personal best jump of 2.02 meters, hosted by Plymouth State University on February 16th to narrowly miss out qualifying for the NCAA DIII Indoor Track National Championships.
A total of 1590 All-Region honors were handed out to 192 different member institutions. The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinctions, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams.
The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team recently concluded its 2019 campaign as select members competed at the 2019 Tufts Last Chance National Qualifier on Saturday afternoon.
