Falcons Shine At William Sutherland III Invite

Manyok paces Green and Gold with pair of top two finishes

New Haven, Conn. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team returned to action this afternoon as the Falcons competed at the 2021-22 William Sutherland III Invitational, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

How It Happened

Sophomore Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) led the way for Fitchburg State, placing first overall in the mile with a MASCAC qualifying time of 4:35.39, while also finishing second in the 800 meter with a post-season qualifying time of 2:02.61.

Junior Nathaniel Felix (Worcester, Mass.) was also solid for the Green and Gold, notching a pair of MASCAC qualifying times in the 400 meter (53.34) (3) and the 55 meter dash (6.58) (5), while sophomore Nicholas Zeoli (Plymouth, Mass.) added post-season qualifying marks in the weight throw (12.17m) and shot put (12.88m) after finishing sixth and 11th respectively.

Newcomer Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, Conn.) posted an eighth place time of 10:37.23 in the 3000 meter, while classmate Edward Paiva (Taunton, Mass.) finished 23rd overall in the 200 meter (25.69) and seventh in the 400 meter (57.28).

In the 55 meter hurdles, juniors Adam Digman (Winchendon, Mass.) (8.53) and Benjamin Sacramone (Hubbardston, Mass.) (8.65) placed eighth and ninth respectively, while classmate Robert Kraus (Boonston, N.J.) notched a 24th place time of 25.88 seconds in the 200 meter.

In the field, Sacramone (1.80m) and Manyok (1.75m) registered MASCAC qualifying marks in the high jump after finishing seventh and ninth, while Digman notched a post-season qualifying vault of 3.10 meters with a sixth place effort in the pole vault.

In the long jump, Sacramone concluded his stellar efforts on the day after notching a MASCAC qualifying mark of 5.94 meters with an eighth place finish in the long jump, while freshman Anthony Perry (Gardner, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon with a fourth place jump of 10.99 meters in the triple jump.
