Fitchburg State Hosts Eric Loeschner Invite

Stalters qualifies for Open New England's in Javelin with toss of 60.00m

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's track & field team hosted the 2016 Eric Loeschner Memorial Invitational this afternoon at Elliot Field.

Freshman Cameron Stalters earned top honors in the javelin with an Open New England qualifying throw of 60.00 meters as well as placing seventh overall in the pole vault with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 3.50 meters.

Junior Akhiel Willis turned in a second place effort in the triple jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 12.95 meters, while junior Chauncey Beatty posted an ECAC qualifying time of 56.05 seconds.

Junior Nicholas Levenson placed third in the 400 hurdles with a DIII NE qualifying time of 57.65 seconds, while newcomer Austin Landress (58.55) and sophomore Andrew Tricker (1:02.90) added MASCAC qualifying times in the 400 hurdles.

On the track, freshman Joseph Darrigo posted a MASCAC qualifying time of 10:16.11 in the 3000 meter steeple chase, while in the 1500 sophomore Jake Hastings (4:07.40) and freshman Joseph Chamberlin (4:35.01), Daniel Fournier (4:41.41) and Brett Montminy (4:46.04) all qualified for MASCAC's.

Levenson notched a MASCAC qualifying time of 11.50 seconds in the 100m, while newcomer Daniel Nkansah also qualified for MASCAC's in the 100m with time of 11.71 seconds. In the 800 meter, senior Richard Ethier, IV (1:58.69) and sophomore Liam Eble (2:08.36) registered post-season qualifying times.

Sophomore Brian Amaral placed first overall in the 5000m with MASCAC qualifying time of 15:37.69, while senior Timothy Allen added a post-season qualifying time of 17:14.32 in the event.

In the field, junior Joseph Bernardini collected a post-season qualifying mark of 11.44 meters in the shot put, while senior Daniel Rymer registered a MASCAC toss of 30.96m in the hammer throw to round out the top Falcon performances on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men's track & field team returns to action next Saturday as it competes in the 2016 MASCAC/Alliance Championship Meet, hosted by UMass Dartmouth for an 11 am start.
